Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet town that is located in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine to the west. It is often cited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was short. Brugel grew up in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. But, a growing rate increased her height and she outgrew all of the dance partners she was able to have. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I reached the height of my male counterparts then I stopped. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's situation, it was a nudge from an instructor in drama at high school that pushed her in the right direction. The teacher suggested she try to get a role for the school's annual show. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the main role for Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. For the past twenty years, the roles played by Brugel on TV and the big screen have varied. Her role as Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member in the season 1 of the series and not seen much.
